About Lou and Val

Lou: I am 62 years old and semi retired. Since retirement I have been bitten, in a big way, by the photography bug. In about 1997 I purchased my first digital camera (I only take digital pictures) and have been upgrading equipment ever since. I love to take outdoor and nature shots and belong to the Morton Arboretum Nature Camera Club.
For the last 25 years I have been in business for myself. Self-employment started with a partnership in a 2-way radio service shop then I moved on to buy an unfinished furniture store franchise. One of my hobbies is woodworking so the unfinished furniture fit nicely with that interest. Currently I have a web based Amateur Radio business and am also hoping to sell my photography work on the web and at art shows. I also do a little computer consulting and web design work.
In my younger days I loved flying as a private pilot in planes that I owned, but it has been many many years since I have been active in aviation. I am also an Amateur Radio Operator, was licensed in 1957, and hold call sign K9LU. Contesting was my main interest but I no longer have the stamina for that aspect of the hobby. I am however, still very active in our local radio club and belong to several others.
