About Lou and Val
3-4-2005
Lou: I am 62 years old and semi retired. Since retirement I have been bitten, in a big way, by the photography bug. In about 1997 I purchased my first digital camera (I only take digital pictures) and have been upgrading equipment ever since. I love to take outdoor and nature shots and belong to the Morton Arboretum Nature Camera Club.
For the last 25 years I have been in business for myself. Self-employment started with a partnership in a 2-way radio service shop then I moved on to buy an unfinished furniture store franchise. One of my hobbies is woodworking so the unfinished furniture fit nicely with that interest. Currently I have a web based Amateur Radio business and am also hoping to sell my photography work on the web and at art shows. I also do a little computer consulting and web design work.
In my younger days I loved flying as a private pilot in planes that I owned, but it has been many many years since I have been active in aviation. I am also an Amateur Radio Operator, was licensed in 1957, and hold call sign K9LU. Contesting was my main interest but I no longer have the stamina for that aspect of the hobby. I am however, still very active in our local radio club and belong to several others.
Val: Val is 63 years old and retired from teaching but still keeps involved by volunteering at school. She specialized in elementary reading skills and finished her 34 years of teaching in the West Aurora, IL. school system. She loves being involved in Alpha Delta Kappa, a teacher's sorority, and has held offices at both the state and local levels. Attending Alpha Delta Kappa's national and state conventions are especially rewarding for her.
She also does quite a bit of volunteer work at church, loves to putter in the garden, bake and in relaxing moments enjoys reading and solving crossword puzzles.
We do quite a bit of touring in the US and a little abroad. Both my wife and I are avid campers and enjoy being on the road seeing new vistas and experiencing local cultures. When we travel in the U.S. we live in our 30' travel trailer. We are members of the Escapees, Lincoln Land Chapter of Escapees, Good Sam and RV Radio Network Camping Clubs and enjoy attending rallies sponsored by these organizations.

We would certainly enjoy hearing from you or meeting you if by chance we bump into each other at a campground or elsewhere in our travels.
