A Bird Story
(7-15-2007)
Lou says........

Taking great bird photos can be trying.

When we arrived at Lake Louise the walkways were crowded with hundreds of tourists. In the midst of the crowd I spotted a photographer, obviously a professional, with an expensive camera and super telephoto lens. He was attempting to photograph the Clark's Nutcrackers as they perched in the trees and  pecked crumbs off the walkways in between the tourists.

I asked him if he had gotten any good shots. "No, not yet", he replied, and said he needed to be more creative.  He then disappeared into the woods, away from the crowds, to find the perfect natural setting.

As soon as he vanished into the woods a Clark's Nutcracker
landed on a rock, about five feet away, which was placed
in the middle of the tourist walkway to hold a sign.
The bird stayed there for no more than five
seconds but but during that time I managed
to quickly snap three photos
and this was one of those
photos.

Sometimes you just get lucky!
