Arctic Thunder Air Show
Elmendorf Air Force Base - Anchorage - June 27-28 2008

Lou says....

Wow...what an event!  The population of Alaska is 670,000 and the attendance at this air show was estimated to be 175,000. Do the math.....that's one forth of the population of Alaska.  The theme for this year's show was celebrating the 50th anniversary of Alaska statehood.

The traffic was backed up for miles.  The parking lots filled early and by the time we arrived on Saturday they were already full. Shuttle busses were transporting spectators from other locations and we had considered using them but the show had already started so we opted to return early on Sunday so we could see the entire show.

All the latest fighters, tankers, helicopters and private acrobatic aircraft, were there entertaining the spectators with aerobatics as well as demonstrations by paratroopers. On the tarmac were displays and aircraft open to the public for tour.

The best way to enjoy the air show is to be there. The second best way to enjoy the show is to see the action in the photo album.  Enjoy the show.
