The spring warmth and sprouting fauna says it is time to head back to Illinois. It has been a very enjoyable trip and I wish it were not over but the lure of family and home is calling.
As I write this we have already traveled to Kimberling City MO. and visited again with my sister. Tomorrow (April, 4th) we leave on the last leg of this trip and will arrive home on April 6th. We traveled with our friends Pat and Jim to Kimberling City before they left for home ahead of us. It was enjoyable to have their company.
On our way from the Gulf Coast we did manage to camp at some scenic spots and get in some last sight seeing and photos. One of our overnight stops turned into a 2 night stay. Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas offered great scenery and a lodge, built by the CCC, which touted a restaurant which we could not resist. The food was good and the dinning room had a great view of the valley below through its huge picture windows. Petit Jean was the first state park in Arkansas and its history is quite interesting.
The weather continued to be rainy and overcast most way from the Gulf Coast and the forecast is for mostly cloudy skies with very cool temperatures for the remainder of the trip.
