The trip ended just as it started. COLD! Brrrrrr.....
We arrived in our driveway at 5:30 P.M. on Friday April 5th. The night before the temperature was in the 20's and the predictions here was for more of the same. Just blame the cold on us!
Our trip is now just memories.....it was a good trip. We hope you have enjoyed our dialog and photos in these pages.
I thought you might be interested some of the statistics of the trip.
We were out for 88 days and boondocked for 23. We traveled 7840 miles, and consumed 897.8 gallons of gas at an average price of $2.34 per gallon. That calculates to 8.7 miles per gallon.
Our average cost for nightly camping fees was $10.06. Just as a side note I have been told that some full time RVer's average only $4.00 per night. That is a lot of boondocking!
One thing I have always been interested in was to know just how much others really spend when they travel in their RV. Unfortunately very few are willing to share their information or they just do not keep good track of expenses so they can share it. For us good record keeping is essential to planning future trips.
Val has been keeping meticulous expense records and we are willing to share them with you. Here they are:
Gas $2104.65
Camping fees $885.96
Propane, Generator gas, Dumping fees $207.00
Laundry $57.50
Groceries $1053.21
Eating out $711.86
Entertainment $165.77
Truck repairs $838.64 (Tires 744.26, Oil Change $94.38)
Discretionary spending $807.05 (Postage, gifts, Personal items etc.)
Cell phone expenses: $334.00 (Monthly service for 2 phones aprox $150.00, Broadband service aprox $130.00, external cellphone antenna $64.00)
Our total on the road expenses for 88 day was $7165.64 or $81.42 per day.
Our plans are to spend a couple of months catching up with friends and family then get back on the road and head the rig north to Alaska.
